FAQs
What kind of bed does my dog need?
With so many options on the market, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by size, shape, materials, durability, and support levels. Because quality sleep directly influences your dog’s overall health, getting the right bed really matters.
The Foggy Dog offers two styles of dog bed:
1) Pillow Beds – a flat, knife-edge pillow that maximizes space for dogs to stretch out
2) Bolster Beds – Raised sides plus a pressure‑relieving foam base creates a supportive “nest” for dogs who love to curl up or lean against something soft.
To determine the optimal type of bed for your dog, first consider their typical sleeping style:
• Sprawlers tend to stretch out when they sleep. A pillow bed will provide the space they crave.
• Curlers like to curl up into a tight little ball. Either style of bed works for them!
• Leaners prefer to lean up against something soft. A bolster bed provides the perfect cozy resting spot.
Also factor in your dog's age, breed, health conditions and any other specific needs:
• Seniors or dogs with mobility issues will appreciate the bolster bed's supportive foam base which cushions pressure points and aching joints, and also makes it easier to stand back up.
• Bed placement. Choose our pillow bed for ultimate versatility: toss it on the couch, lay it on the floor under your desk, or spread it across the back seat of your car. Alternatively, if your dog sleeps in a crate at night, our bolster bed includes a removable travel mat that is sized to fit most standard crates.
• Temperature. Dogs who overheat easily (thick‑coated breeds, pups in hot climates, or “belly coolers” who lie flat on cool floors) benefit from a pillow bed with maximum airflow and no bolsters trapping heat.
• Chewing tendencies. Dogs who tend to chew can be tempted by the extra seams, corners, and fabric of a bolster bed; opting for a minimalist pillow bed can reduce likelihood of chewing.
• Flat‑faced breeds. Raised sides let brachycephalic dogs like pugs and Frenchies prop up their heads for clearer airways, making the bolster bed a smart pick.
• Anxious dogs. Pups with general anxiety or situational anxiety love to retreat to a cozy hideaway. Our bolster bed's soft, pillowed walls provide that calming refuge.
How do I choose the right sized bed for my dog?
Use our Bed Size Guide as a general guideline based on your dog's weight and breed. Note that you will get the most accurate fit by measuring your pup rather than relying on weight alone:
1. Measure your dog's length. Have your dog stand on all fours and measure from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail. Add 6-10 inches, and this total is your target bed length.
2. Measure width. Next, measure the widest part of their body. Add the same 6-10 inches on each side to find the ideal bed width.
3. Factor in age and health. Senior or arthritic dogs often appreciate a bit more room to reposition comfortably. Puppies grow fast, so choose a size that will still suit them at adulthood to avoid an early upgrade.
Using these measurements, find your perfect bed size. When in doubt, size up - no one likes falling out of bed!
• Small: 18" x 27"
• Medium: 24" x 30"
• Large: 26" x 37"
• XL: 30" x 41"
How portable are your beds for travel or crate use?
The removable quilted pad included in our bolster beds doubles as a travel mat. Simply roll it up, tie it shut, and carry it with you using the built‑in handle.
The mat is also specifically designed to fit the majority of popular dog crates, e.g., the ones made by Midwest Home:
• Small travel mat: 13" x 22"
• Medium travel mat: 18" x 24"
• Large travel mat: 19" x 30"
• XL travel mat: 23" x 36"
How do I care for my Foggy Dog bolster bed?
Easily zip off the fabric bed cover and machine wash cold, tumble dry low. The removable quilted topper is also fully machine washable. We recommend spot cleaning the inner bolster pillows and the foam cushion.

We teamed up with LA-based home goods brand Heather Taylor Home to create a limited-edition pet capsule of dog collars, accessories, toys and beds featuring HTH’s signature spin on classic ginghams and plaids.
